Do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours after getting your braces fitted, and avoid rinsing your mouth during this time.
Brush carefully around the braces and wires to keep your teeth and gums clean. Rinse with tap water if needed.
Avoid touching or playing with brackets, wires, braces, pencils, pens or other objects.
Do not use your front teeth to bite hard foods during treatment. Always chew with your back teeth.
Keep your braces clean and free from plaque and food by brushing and using an interdental brush where required.
After eating, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water. Be careful not to dislodge the braces while removing food.
If you experience severe pain, swelling, bleeding, loose brackets or a broken or damaged wire, contact your orthodontist immediately.
Do not put anything unnecessarily into your mouth that could damage the braces or cause injury.
Choose soft and easy-to-chew foods that are comfortable to eat while wearing braces.
Avoid hard, sticky or very crunchy foods that may damage brackets, wires or other orthodontic components.
Treat your braces with care, keep them clean and follow your orthodontist's instructions throughout treatment.
